Next-generation imaging
Capture premium images with the world's first 2/3-inch CMOS sensor featuring global shutter technology that eliminates "jello" effect and banding noise. This enables the HDC-3170 to capture pristine images with low noise and excellent sensitivity (F12 at 1080/59.94p or F13 at 1080/50p).
Greater format flexibility (4K/HD)
The HDC-3170 can produce 3G-SDI signals in a range of formats up to 1080/50p, with 4K available via the CCU's 12G-SDI and Quad 3G-SDI interfaces. This gives you maximum production convenience – and your viewers can enjoy premium image quality.
Next-generation digital triax transmission
The HDC-3170 supports the third-generation digital triax-based camera/CCU transmission system. It can carry high-quality Full HD images over distances up to 1,800 m* while integrating seamlessly with current triax infrastructures.
With 14.5 mm diameter triax cable. Maximum transmission distance varies depending on camera system configuration.

The HDC-3170's magnesium alloy body offers exceptional lightness and strength. Seamless integration
Backward compatibility with Sony's industry-recognised HDC-2000 series system cameras simplifies seamless integration with your current live production infrastructures, including cameras and CCUs.
Servo-controlled ND filter
An optical neutral density (ND) filter wheel opens up wider creative possibilities. The filter can be controlled from a remote control panel, a master setup unit or directly from the camera head.
Enhanced focus assist functions
The Viewfinder Detail function adds dedicated contour signals directly to the viewfinder, helping the operator to focus quickly and accurately in all shooting situations. It is complemented by a focus assist indicator and an advanced focus position counter function.
