Next-generation imaging
Capture world-class images with the world's first 2/3" HD CMOS sensor featuring global shutter technology that eliminates "jelly effect" and banding noise. This enables the HDC-3170 to capture exceptionally sharp images with low noise and excellent sensitivity (F12 at 1080/59.94i or F13 at 1080/50i).
Greater format flexibility
The HDC-3170 can deliver 3G-SDI signals in various formats up to 1080/50p. This gives you the ultimate production convenience - and your viewers benefit from first-class image quality.
Next-generation digital triax transmission
The HDC-3170 supports the latest third-generation digital triax camera/camera base station transmission system. It can transmit high-quality Full HD images over distances of up to 1800 m* and can be seamlessly integrated into existing Triax infrastructures.
With a 14.5 mm diameter triax cable. Maximum transmission distance depends on camera system configuration.

The camera on the move
The HDC-3170's magnesium alloy body offers exceptional lightness and robustness. The camera's low centre of gravity, easily adjustable shoulder pad and extended grip area ensure safe and stable handling. HDC series studio cameras are also ideal for handheld operation and offer exceptional user ergonomics in a variety of studio environments and for outdoor use.
Seamless integration and backwards compatibility
Compatibility with Sony's industry-recognised HDC-2000 series system cameras simplifies seamless integration with your current live production infrastructure, including cameras and camera base stations.
Extended focus assistance functions
Users can utilise the viewfinder detail function, which displays coloured outlines directly in the viewfinder, helping them to focus quickly and accurately in any shooting situation. This function is complemented by the focus assistance indicator and an extended focus position measurement function.
Servo ND filter
A neutral density (ND) optical filter wheel opens up new creative possibilities. The filter can be controlled via a remote control panel, main configuration unit or directly from the camera head.
