OLPF FF3 for MAVO LF with reduced moiré effect
The full-frame optical low-pass filter (OLPF) is dedicated to the MAVO LF. There are two types: the "light" OLPF FF1 delivered as standard, and the more complex and highly performing "heavy" OLPF FF3.
The optical low-pass filter (OLPF) is located in front of the sensor and blocks part of the high-frequency spatial resolution in the image that would lead to certain artifacts when captured by the digital image sensor, thus reducing to some extent the sharpness of captured images. The optical properties of this filter have been carefully adjusted to achieve a balance between image content and the reduction of aliasing/artifacts during its design. The "light" OLPF is designed for sharper images while the "heavy" OLPF is intended for deeper suppression of aliasing/artifacts.
The OLPF FF3, as a brand new full-frame multilayer optical low-pass filter, adopts a more complex and higher-performing crystal process to "eliminate" aliasing/artifacts while maintaining very sharp images. It is only suitable for the MAVO LF, in a perfect and professional manner.
