As a remotely controllable 4K UHD professional Blu-ray player, the Tascam BD-MP4K is the perfect choice for a wide range of commercial installations requiring ultra-high definition image quality, including public, educational and commercial establishments, theatres, entertainment companies, to name just a few.
Occupying only one rack unit in height, the compact BD-MP4K saves space by eliminating the need for separate audio/video playback devices in an installation rack. It accepts a wide range of media and file formats from discs (Blu-ray, DVD, CD), USB drives, SD cards or even Samba network shares on a NAS or remote server via Gigabit Ethernet.
Easy integration into multimedia systems
For integrated multimedia systems where remote operation beyond infrared is desired, the BD-MP4K offers both RS-232C and IP network connectivity. The unit's RS-232C port enables smooth and reliable bidirectional control between devices with status feedback, whilst Gigabit Ethernet simplifies integration into larger systems with mutual control between components.
In addition to remote operation, all playback functions can be accessed locally from the front panel if desired. There are also separate locking functions for the panel, drawer and IR remote to prevent accidental changes or unauthorised use.
Connecting display monitors or televisions is quick and easy via two plug-and-play HDMI ports on the rear panel that support HDMI 2.0 and 1.4 (audio only) formats.
Typically Tascam: A little more of everything
When it comes to professional audio quality and commercial integration, the BD-MP4K is pure Tascam. Individual connectors for 7.1 Surround sound are provided on the rear panel for totally immersive and rich audio playback in any installation. Professional-quality balanced XLR stereo outputs as well as unbalanced RCA stereo outputs are also available. And a coaxial output can deliver professional-quality digital audio formats, including Dolby, DTS and two-channel linear PCM (SPDIF).
With its high image resolution and superb audio quality, support for virtually all common media and file formats, as well as comprehensive connection and configuration options, the BD-MP4K meets even the highest requirements, making it the ideal choice for professional use in permanent installation or touring.
Playback
The versatile BD-MP4K supports a wide range of media formats, including Blu-ray, DVD and CD, as well as files on USB drives, SD cards and network shares. As a single-source playback device, the BD-MP4K eliminates the need for separate audio/video playback devices in an installation. The wide range of supported file formats includes
- video formats such as 3GP, ASF, AVI, DAT, M2TS, MKV, WMV, MOV, MP4, MPG, OGM, TP, TS,
- image formats such as JPEG, GIF and PNG as well as
- audio formats such as AAC, APE, FLAC, MP3, WAV and WMA.
Ports for external media
An SDXC slot on the front panel and a USB 3.0 port at the rear allow fixed or interchangeable access to external media.
Playback from network storage (NAS) or file servers
Using a Gigabit Ethernet connection, the BD-MP4K can play files located on a remote server and accessible via a Samba network share (SMB/CIFS).
Power-on playback and repeat mode
Thanks to its power-on playback function, the BD-MP4K can start playing immediately upon power-up. Combined with repeat mode, content will automatically start, loop and play continuously until the system is switched off again. In fixed installations, this means that a single power-up of the integrated AV system will launch looped playback of announcements, advertisements or other content without having to press any buttons on the player itself.
Panel lock for secure operation
Operation can be protected against accidental setting changes or unauthorised use thanks to panel and drawer locking functions. Additionally, the infrared remote can be locked to prevent, for example, modification of preset controls in commercial environments, thus helping to ensure consistent and reliable performance in any installation.
Elegant display sequence on power-up
The monitor display can be set to show a black screen during startup rather than the manufacturer's screen with menu elements, thus creating an elegant and non-distracting visual startup environment each time the system is powered on.
Two HDMI outputs for projectors, screens and audio systems
A standard HDMI output offers easy and reliable plug-and-play connection to any HDMI-compatible monitor, projector or television. This output supports HDMI CEC which allows the connected screen to be switched on/off in the correct order and also allows connection of non-HDCP compatible devices.
Balanced and unbalanced outputs
Emphasising its appeal for commercial installation environments, the BD-MP4K offers professional-quality balanced XLR stereo outputs as well as unbalanced RCA stereo outputs for versatility in audio routing, connection and configuration.
Coaxial digital audio output
The BD-MP4K supports professional-quality digital audio output formats, including Dolby, DTS and others via its coaxial output on the rear panel. Two-channel linear PCM playback is also supported.
7.1 Surround sound system
For immersive, full and rich audio playback in any commercial installation, separate 7.1 Surround outputs are provided. Use these outputs to feed an appropriate Surround amplifier or separate power amplifiers for large spaces.
External remote control via Ethernet LAN and RS-232C
Smooth and reliable status feedback and bidirectional control are offered for professional installations via RS-232C and Ethernet, allowing the BD-MP4K to be integrated into more sophisticated Audio/Video configurations.
Infrared remote control
The included IR remote control allows easy use of most functions and menus.
Fully accessible control panel
Control and use of the BD-MP4K's Stop, Play, Pause and Fast Forward functions as well as menu navigation are made possible by easily accessible control buttons on the front panel, which can be locked if necessary to prevent accidental manipulation by unauthorised persons.
