The iXm microphone capsule has been optimised for high speech intelligibility and low sensitivity to handling noise. It is interchangeable by screwing/unscrewing and designed to adapt to different recording environments. Omnidirectional, cardioid and supercardioid polar patterns are available, and capsules are automatically detected for automatic gain and DSP adaptation.nnThe Yellowtec iXm uses an intelligent levelling algorithm that combines a slow-acting gain leveller with an anticipatory peak limiter and prevents ADC distortion by converting the microphone signal twice.nnThe Uplink recording app facilitates data exchange between the iXm microphone and iOS devices such as the iPhone. Uplink offers sophisticated editing, archiving and metadata tagging features, and allows reporters to send recordings directly to the studio by e-mail after tagging the files.nnA unique dual power concept offered with the iXm enables a total operating time of up to 16 hours. It is equipped with a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery and features a redundant battery compartment for three standard AA batteries. Its port panel includes a USB 2.0 port for downloading recordings or charging the internal battery. Three intuitive indicators are present on the microphone dashboard: Ready to Record - Recording, battery status and memory status.
