The Samyang MF 85mm f/1.8 ED UMC CS is the ideal lens for those who love taking portraits or other types of photos with a shallow depth of field, but are less enthusiastic about carrying heavy photographic equipment.
This manual focus lens is specially designed for mirrorless camera systems with APS-C sensors, and therefore features a compact design and lightweight construction that makes it easy to use even on truly small camera models.
Smooth focusing The Samyang MF 85mm f/1.8 ED UMC CS is equipped with a wide and easy-to-grip focus ring that offers very smooth and precise action. The close focus limit is 65 cm, which means the lens, in addition to portraits, also works very well for capturing details and food photography. Thanks to a floating lens design, it also maintains exceptional sharpness at all focusing distances.
The optical design consists of 9 elements arranged in 7 groups. In order to deliver the best possible sharpness and resolution even at full aperture and to minimise defects such as chromatic aberration, a high refractive index (HR) lens and an ED lens are included.
Samyang's advanced Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) combats flare and ghosting, resulting in images with good contrast and natural colour reproduction in all lighting conditions. A nine-blade aperture also contributes to very soft and creamy bokeh (rendering of the out-of-focus parts of the image). Something very much appreciated by all portrait photographers!
