Combining advanced optics with sophisticated handling, the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 Mk2 lens for Micro 4/3 mount is an ultra wide-angle lens particularly suited to astrophotography, architecture and landscape photography applications. Featuring a 14-element in 10-group optical design, this lens uses a series of aspherical, low-dispersion and high-refractive-index elements to reduce chromatic fringing, aberrations and distortion, delivering sharp, clear images with accurate colours. An Ultra Multi-Coating treatment is also present, along with a built-in petal-shaped lens hood to suppress flare and ghosting, enhancing contrast when shooting in direct, bright lighting. Complementing the imaging strengths, manual focus with an internal focus design is used and allows working with subjects as close as 28 cm, and the metal housing is weather-sealed to allow working in challenging weather conditions. Additionally, a focus lock ring allows the focus position to be secured to prevent accidental changes, and the aperture ring can also be declutched to better suit video applications.
Features
- The wide-angle lens is designed for Micro 4/3 mirrorless hybrid cameras and offers an equivalent focal length of 28 mm.
- The complex 14-element in 10-group optical design includes one aspherical element, one hybrid aspherical element, two ultra-low dispersion elements and three high-refractive-index elements, which combine to reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations as well as chromatic fringing, while improving sharpness, clarity and colour fidelity.
- An Ultra Multi-Coating treatment has been applied to individual elements to minimise ghosting and stray reflections, increasing contrast and colour neutrality when shooting in bright lighting conditions.
- The manual focus design allows working with subjects as close as 28 cm and an internal focus design maintains the overall length of the lens during use.
- The built-in petal-shaped lens hood blocks stray light that could reach the front element and also offers physical protection against minor impacts.
- The weather-sealed design is suited to working in challenging weather conditions.
- The focus lock ring allows the focus position to be fixed to prevent accidental changes, which is beneficial for astrophotography and other forms of long-exposure, time-lapse or long-term stationary photography.
- The aperture ring de-click function allows the aperture ring not to stop at each aperture value as cinema lenses do. This selectable function will allow continuous and smooth brightness adjustment with far more detail between values.
