Combining advanced optics with sophisticated handling, the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 Mk2 lens with FUJIFILM X mount is an ultra wide-angle lens particularly suited to astrophotography, architectural photography, and landscape applications. Featuring a 14-element in 10-group optical design, this lens uses a series of aspherical, low-dispersion, and high-refractive-index elements to reduce chromatic aberrations, aberrations, and distortion, enabling sharp and clear images with accurate colours. An Ultra Multi-Coating is also present, along with a built-in petal-shaped lens hood to suppress stray flare and improve contrast when shooting in direct and bright lighting conditions. Complementing the imaging strengths, manual focus with an internal focus design allows working with subjects as close as 28 cm, and the metal body is weather-protected to allow working in difficult weather conditions. Additionally, a focus lock ring secures the focus position to prevent accidental changes, and the aperture ring can also be de-clicked for better adaptation to video applications.
Features
- The wide-angle lens is designed for FUJIFILM X mount mirrorless cameras in APS-C format and offers an equivalent focal length of 21 mm in 35 mm format.
- The complex 14-element in 10-group optical design includes one aspherical element, one hybrid aspherical element, two extra-low dispersion elements, and three high-refractive-index elements, all combined to reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations as well as chromatic aberrations, and to improve sharpness, clarity, and colour accuracy.
- An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to individual elements to minimise ghosting and stray flare, thereby increasing contrast and colour neutrality when shooting in bright lighting conditions.
- The manual focus design allows working with subjects as close as 28 cm, and an internal focus design maintains the overall length of the lens during use.
- The built-in petal-shaped lens hood blocks stray light reaching the front element and also provides physical protection against minor impacts.
- The weather-sealed design is suited to working in difficult weather conditions.
- The focus lock ring secures the focus position to prevent accidental changes, which is beneficial for astrophotography and other forms of long-exposure, time-lapse, or long-term stationary shooting.
- The aperture ring de-click function allows the ring to move smoothly without stopping at each aperture value as cinema lenses do. This selectable feature enables continuous and smooth brightness adjustment with far more detail between aperture values.
