A prime telephoto lens ideally suited to portraits and other selective compositions, the Samyang Canon EF-M 85mm f/1.4 Mk2 lens is characterised by its bright maximum aperture of f/1.4, allowing work in low-light conditions and control over depth of field. The optical design incorporates a hybrid aspherical element that helps reduce distortion and spherical aberrations for high sharpness and accurate rendering. The Ultra Multi-Coating has also been applied to reduce flare and ghosting in order to improve contrast and colour fidelity. The manual focus design allows working with subjects at a minimum distance of 1.1 m, and a nine-blade rounded aperture diaphragm contributes to pleasing bokeh quality.
Features
- The prime telephoto lens is designed for Canon EF-M mirrorless cameras in APS-C format and provides an equivalent focal length of 136 mm.
- The bright maximum aperture of f/1.4 offers a high degree of control over depth of field for working with selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques. In addition, it also allows working in low-light conditions with faster shutter speeds.
- A hybrid aspherical element is present in the optical design to control spherical aberrations and improve clarity and sharpness across the entire aperture range.
- The Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to the individual elements to minimise ghosting and flare in order to improve contrast and colour neutrality when shooting in bright lighting conditions.
- Manual focus allows working with subjects at a minimum distance of 1.1 m, and an internal focus design maintains the overall length of the lens during use.
- The aperture ring deactivation function allows the ring to not stop at each aperture value as cinema lenses do. This selectable function will allow smooth and continuous brightness adjustment with far more detail between aperture values.
- The nine-blade rounded aperture diaphragm contributes to soft and pleasing bokeh quality.
- The weather-resistant design is suited to working in challenging weather conditions.
