Combining a comfortable wide-angle design with an ultra-fast maximum aperture, the 16mm f/1.4 DC DN is part of Sigma's Contemporary series and is designed for use with APS-C format mirrorless cameras with L-mount. Characterised by its brilliant maximum aperture of f/1.4, this lens is well suited to working in low-light conditions and also offers increased depth of field control for selective focus control. The optical design uses multiple low-dispersion and aspherical elements, which control colour fringing and various aberrations to deliver high sharpness and clarity across the entire aperture range. Individual elements also benefit from a Super Multi-Layer coating to suppress reflections and ghosting, providing better contrast and colour fidelity when working in bright lighting conditions. In addition to its optical strengths, this lens is also equipped with a stepping motor for fast, silent, and smooth autofocus, suited to both photography and video applications.
Features
- Part of the Contemporary line from Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve a balance between practicality and performance, combining a compact and lightweight build with versatile handling and remarkable optical attributes.
- This wide-angle prime lens is designed for APS-C format mirrorless cameras with Leica L mount and provides an equivalent focal length of 24mm.
- The brilliant maximum aperture of f/1.4 excels in low-light conditions and also offers increased depth of field control for selective focus effects.
- Two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements and three F Low Dispersion (FLD) elements reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations for greater clarity and improved colour accuracy.
- Two aspherical elements are used to limit distortion and spherical aberrations and also contribute to increased overall sharpness and accurate rendering.
- A Super Multi-Layer coating has been applied to the lens elements to minimise reflections and ghosting and help produce images that are rich in contrast and colour-neutral, even when shooting into the light.
- A stepping autofocus motor benefits both photographers and videographers with its fast, precise, and near-silent performance.
- The rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a soft and pleasing bokeh quality.
- The bayonet mount is constructed from brass to ensure precision and durability. Additionally, a rubber seal is incorporated into the mount design to make it resistant to dust and splashes.
