A classic portrait lens updated for full-frame mirrorless systems with L-mount, the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art series stands out for its advanced and modernised optical design, elegant profile, and premium build quality. The maximum aperture of f/1.4 is ideal for low-light conditions and also offers extended depth of field control for shallow depth of field effects. The optical construction incorporates a range of low dispersion, aspherical, and high refractive index elements, and its large-diameter design delivers a remarkable level of sharpness and clarity with well-controlled distortion and aberrations. In addition, the enhanced Super Multi-Coating optimises image quality by eliminating flare and ghosting for improved contrast and colour fidelity in bright lighting conditions. Complementing the optics, an elegant external design incorporates a physical aperture ring, which can be declicked or locked, along with a dedicated AF/MF switch and an AFL button for intuitive, tactile control. For autofocus, a stepping motor is used, maintaining a lightweight and compact design whilst promoting fast and near-silent focusing performance for both photographic and video applications. In addition, the lens features an 11-blade circular diaphragm for smooth bokeh quality, and the lens barrel is also weather-sealed to cope with challenging weather conditions. Features - Part of the Sigma Global Vision Art range, this lens is designed to deliver truly exceptional optical performance and is ideally suited to creative and artistic applications. - The portrait lens is designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras with L-mount, but can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal length of 127.5 mm. - The bright maximum aperture of f/1.4 is ideal for working in ambient light and offers extended depth of field control to isolate subjects with selective focus. - Five Super Low Dispersion (SLD) elements significantly reduce chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for improved clarity and enhanced colour accuracy. - One aspherical element and four high refractive index glass elements control spherical aberrations and distortion for improved sharpness and accurate rendering. - Super Multi-Coating has been applied to the lens elements to minimise flare and ghosting and help produce high-contrast images with neutral colours, even in backlit conditions. - The built-in stepping motor delivers fast and silent autofocus performance, further enhanced by an optimised AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing. - The manual aperture ring can be declicked for smooth and silent aperture changes, advantageous for video applications. In addition, a dedicated aperture ring lock switch can also be used to prevent accidental changes to the aperture setting. - The built-in AFL (autofocus lock) button, to which additional functions can be assigned, extends the range of operations available on the lens. - The eleven-blade circular diaphragm contributes to smooth and pleasing bokeh quality. - Weather-sealed construction with a brass mount that offers improved mounting precision and rigidity. - This lens is compatible with the optional Sigma USB Dock UD-11 to fine-tune various lens characteristics and update its firmware.
