Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D (Silver)
A fixed wide-angle lens featuring a rectilinear optical design, the silver Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D lens for Canon EF mount from Venus Optics is specially designed to minimise distortion and deliver a clear, accurate rendition of landscapes and architectural subjects. The optical construction also incorporates two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements to control spherical and chromatic aberrations, improving sharpness and reducing colour fringing. A Frog Eye coating has also been applied to repel dust and moisture from the front element, making it easier to work in challenging environmental conditions. Beyond its optical attributes, this lens also offers precise manual focus as well as a floating optical system to maintain accurate rendition across the entire focus range, from 18 cm to infinity. Additionally, a petal-shaped lens hood is integrated into the lens design to reduce flare and ghosting when shooting in bright lighting conditions.
Features
- Ultra wide-angle lens designed for Canon EF full-frame DSLRs, this 12mm f/2.8 can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal length of 19.2 mm.
- The bright maximum aperture of f/2.8 is suited to working in low light and challenging lighting conditions.
- Rectilinear design renders subjects with minimal distortion to suit landscape and architectural applications.
- Three extra-low dispersion elements reduce chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for increased clarity and colour neutrality. Two aspherical elements are also present to minimise spherical aberrations and improve sharpness.
- The Frog Eye coating has been applied to repel dust and moisture for enhanced protection when working in adverse weather conditions.
- The manual focus design uses a floating optical system to maintain performance across the entire focus range, from 18 cm to infinity.
- The integrated petal-shaped lens hood shields the lens from stray light to reduce flare and ghosting and also protects the front elements from accidental impacts.
