Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D (Black)
A fixed wide-angle lens with a rectilinear optical design, the Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D from Venus Optics for Nikon Z mount is specifically designed to limit distortion to provide clear and precise representations of landscapes and architectural subjects. The optical construction also includes two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements to control spherical and chromatic aberrations, thereby improving sharpness and reducing color fringing. A Frog Eye coating has also been applied to repel dust and moisture from the front lens element, which is beneficial when working in harsh environmental conditions. In addition to its optical attributes, this lens also features a precise manual focus design and a floating optical system to maintain accurate rendering throughout the focusing range, from 18 cm to infinity. Additionally, a petal-shaped lens hood is integrated into the lens design to reduce flare and ghosting when working in bright lighting conditions.
Features
- Ultra wide-angle lens designed for Nikon Z FX-format mirrorless cameras, this 12mm f/2.8 can also be used with DX models where it provides an equivalent focal length of 18mm.
- The bright maximum aperture of f/2.8 is well-suited for working in low and difficult lighting conditions.
- The rectilinear design renders subjects with minimal distortion to suit landscape and architectural applications.
- Three extra-low dispersion elements reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing for increased clarity and color neutrality. Two aspherical elements are also present to limit spherical aberrations and improve sharpness.
- A Frog Eye coating has been applied to repel both dust and moisture, providing additional protection when working in adverse weather conditions.
- The manual focus design uses a floating optical system to maintain performance throughout the focusing range, from 18 cm to infinity.
- The integrated petal-shaped lens hood shields the lens from stray light to reduce flare and ghosting, while also protecting the front elements from accidental impacts.
