Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D (Black)
An ultra-wide-angle prime lens featuring a rectilinear optical design, the Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D black with Pentax K mount from Venus Optics is specifically designed to minimise distortion in order to deliver clear and accurate renditions of landscapes and architectural subjects. The optical construction also incorporates two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements to control spherical and chromatic aberrations, thereby improving sharpness and reducing colour fringing. A Frog Eye coating has also been applied to repel dust and moisture from the front element of the lens, allowing work in challenging environmental conditions. In addition to its optical attributes, this lens features a precise manual focus design as well as a floating optical system to maintain accurate rendition across the entire focus range, from 18cm to infinity. Furthermore, a petal-shaped hood is integrated into the lens design to reduce flare and ghosting when used in bright lighting conditions.
Features
- Ultra-wide-angle prime lens designed for full-frame Pentax K DSLRs, this 12mm f/2.8 can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal length of 18mm.
- The bright maximum aperture of f/2.8 is well suited to working in low-light and challenging lighting conditions.
- The rectilinear design allows subjects to be reproduced with minimal distortion, making it suitable for landscape and architectural applications.
- Three extra-low dispersion elements reduce chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for increased clarity and colour neutrality. Two aspherical elements are also present to limit spherical aberrations and improve sharpness.
- A Frog Eye coating has been applied to repel dust and moisture, providing additional protection when working in adverse weather conditions.
- The manual focus design uses a floating optical system to maintain performance across the entire focus range, from 18cm to infinity.
- The integrated petal-shaped hood protects the lens from stray light to reduce flare and ghosting, and also protects the front elements from accidental impacts.
