Laowa Laowa 14mm f/4 FF RL Zero-D
Combining an ultra-compact form factor with an ultra-wide field of view, the Venus Optics Laowa 14mm f/4 FF RL for Sony E mount is an elegant prime lens with particularly low distortion and a rectilinear rendering suited to indoor, architectural, astrophotography, nature and landscape applications. The wide 114° field of view is supported by an advanced optical design, which includes aspherical, high-index and low-dispersion elements, to produce well-corrected, sharp and colour-accurate images. The lens features a manual focus design and allows working with subjects as close as 10.6", and its built-in petal-shaped lens hood helps to block stray light that could cause unwanted reflections.
Features
- The ultra-wide lens is designed for full-frame Sony E mirrorless cameras, but can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal length of 21 mm.
- Two aspherical elements and one ultra-high refractive index glass element help to control distortion and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness and accurate rendering.
- Three extra-low dispersion elements are used to reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce high clarity and colour accuracy.
- The impressive 114° field of view combines with a rectilinear design, which renders subjects with minimal distortion to suit landscape and architectural applications.
- The manual focus design and a minimum focusing distance of 10.6" are suited to working with close-up subjects.
- The built-in petal-shaped lens hood helps to prevent stray light from causing reflections and also provides some physical protection to the front element of the lens.
- The front of the lens is threaded to accept optional 52 mm filters. The lens is also compatible with an optional dedicated 100 mm filter holder.
- The five-blade aperture produces distinctive 10-point sunstars and specular highlights when stopped down and when photographing point light sources.
