Laowa 14mm f/4 FF RL Zero-D (Black)
Combining an ultra-compact form factor with an ultra-wide field of view, the Laowa 14mm f/4 FF RL black from Venus Optics is an elegant prime lens with particularly low distortion and a rectilinear rendering suited to interior, architectural, astrophotography, nature and landscape photography. The wide 114° angle of view is optimised by an advanced optical design, which includes aspherical, high-refractive-index and low-dispersion elements, to achieve sharp, well-corrected images with accurate colours. The lens features manual focus and allows working with subjects at distances as close as 27 cm, and its integrated petal-shaped lens hood helps to block stray light that can cause unwanted flare.
Specifications
- Ultra wide-angle lens designed for Leica M rangefinder cameras.
- Two aspherical elements and one ultra-high-refractive-index glass element help to control distortion and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness and accurate rendering.
- Three ultra-low dispersion elements are used to reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations for great clarity and colour accuracy.
- An impressive 114° angle of view is paired with a rectilinear design, which renders subjects with minimal distortion to suit landscape and architectural applications. This ultra-wide field of view will exceed that of a rangefinder camera's viewfinder; an external electronic viewfinder or Live View method must be used for precise compositions.
- Coupled to the rangefinder for precise focusing using the camera's viewfinder; although the lens has a minimum focusing distance of 27 cm, the lens/rangefinder is only coupled for precise focusing up to 70 cm and this distance is indicated on the focusing distance scale. To work between 27 cm and 70 cm, Live View methods must be used for precise focusing.
- The integrated petal-shaped lens hood helps to prevent stray light from causing flare and also provides physical protection to the front element of the lens.
- The front of the lens is threaded to accept optional 52 mm filters. The lens is also compatible with an optional dedicated 100 mm filter holder.
- The five-blade diaphragm produces distinctive 10-pointed stars and specular highlights when stopped down and photographing point light sources.
