Laowa 14mm f/4 FF RL Zero-D (Silver)
Combining an ultra-compact form factor with an ultra-wide field of view, the Venus Optics Laowa 14mm f/4 FF RL Silver is an elegant prime lens with particularly low distortion and rectilinear rendering suited to interior, architecture, astrophotography, nature and landscape applications. The wide 114° angle of view is optimised by an advanced optical design, which includes aspherical, high-index and low-dispersion elements, to deliver well-corrected, sharp images with accurate colours. The lens features manual focus and allows working with subjects as close as 27 cm, and its built-in petal-shaped lens hood helps block stray light causing unwanted flare.
Features
- Ultra wide-angle designed for rangefinder cameras with Leica M mount.
- Two aspherical elements and one extra-high-index glass element help control distortion and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness and accurate rendering.
- Three extra-low dispersion elements are used to reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations for better clarity and improved colour accuracy.
- The impressive 114° angle of view is paired with a rectilinear design, which renders subjects with minimal distortion to suit landscape and architecture applications. This ultra-wide field of view will exceed that of a rangefinder camera's viewfinder; an external electronic viewfinder or Live View method must be used for precise compositions.
- Coupled to the rangefinder for precise focusing using the camera's viewfinder; although the lens has a minimum focusing distance of 27 cm, the lens/rangefinder is only coupled for precise focus at 70 cm and this distance is highlighted on the focusing distance scale. To work between 27 cm and 70 cm, Live View methods must be used for precise focusing.
- The built-in petal-shaped lens hood helps prevent stray light from causing flare and also provides physical protection to the front element of the lens.
- The front of the lens is threaded to accept optional 52 mm filters. The lens is also compatible with an optional dedicated 100 mm filter holder.
- The five-blade aperture produces distinctive 10-pointed sunstars and specular highlights when stopped down and when photographing point light sources.
