Laowa 14mm f/4 FF RL Zero-D
Combining an ultra-compact form factor with an ultra-wide field of view, the Venus Optics Laowa 14mm f/4 FF RL lens for Canon RF mount is a sleek prime lens with particularly low distortion and a rectilinear rendering, suited to indoor, architecture, astrophotography, nature and landscape applications. The wide 114° field of view is supported by an advanced optical design, which includes aspherical, high-refractive-index and low-dispersion elements, to achieve sharp, well-corrected images with accurate colours. The lens features manual focus and allows working with subjects as close as 27 cm, and its built-in petal-shaped lens hood helps block stray light that can cause unwanted reflections.
Features
- The ultra wide-angle lens is designed for full-frame Canon RF mirrorless cameras, but can also be used with APS-C models where it offers an equivalent focal length of 22.4 mm.
- Two aspherical elements and one ultra-high-refractive-index glass element help control distortion and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness and accurate rendering.
- Three extra-low dispersion elements are used to reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce high clarity and colour accuracy.
- The impressive 114° field of view combines with a rectilinear design, which renders subjects with minimal distortion to suit landscape and architectural applications.
- The manual focus design and minimum focus distance of 27 cm are suitable for working with close-up subjects.
- The built-in petal-shaped lens hood helps prevent stray light from causing reflections and also provides physical protection to the front element of the lens.
- The front of the lens is threaded to accept optional 52 mm filters. The lens is also compatible with an optional dedicated 100 mm filter holder.
- The five-blade aperture diaphragm produces distinctive 10-point stars and specular highlights when stopped down and when photographing point light sources.
