Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Zero-D Shift
Combining an exceptionally wide field of view with the ability to correct perspective distortion, the Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Zero-D Shift for Nikon F mount from Venus Optics is an ideal lens for architectural and interior applications. The wide 110° angle of view is complemented by an impressive shift range of +/- 11mm to compensate for unwanted converging lines and keystoning distortion. This shift control is complemented by a 360° rotation mechanism applying movements in different directions to suit horizontal and vertical shooting orientations. Furthermore, as a member of the Zero-D lens series, this 15mm f/4.5 also renders scenes with a high degree of accuracy and very low distortion.
In terms of optics, two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements are present, reducing spherical and chromatic aberrations for great sharpness and clarity. An anti-reflection coating also helps to control flare and ghosting for increased contrast and colour rendition. The lens uses a manual focus design to work with subjects as close as 20cm and features a five-blade aperture diaphragm to produce distinctive 10-point star rays.
Features
- Ultra wide-angle lens designed for Nikon F FX-format cameras but can also be used with DX models where it provides an equivalent focal length of 22.5mm.
- As a member of the Zero-D series, this lens features a rectilinear design that renders subjects with minimal distortion to suit architectural, interior, and landscape applications.
- The built-in +/- 11mm shift adjustment helps to correct perspective distortion and eliminate keystoning distortion.
- The large 65mm diameter image circle easily covers full-frame sensors without any vignetting. Additionally, this lens can also be adapted to medium format mirrorless cameras (44 x 33mm sensor), where up to +/- 8mm of shift is available.
- Shift control works in conjunction with 360° rotation to apply shift in different directions, facilitating switching between vertical and horizontal shooting orientations, and the rotation mechanism features locking detents at 15° intervals for intuitive handling.
- Two aspherical elements limit spherical aberrations and distortion for improved sharpness and accurate rendering.
- Three extra-low dispersion elements reduce chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for increased clarity and colour neutrality.
- The updated anti-reflection coating eliminates flare and ghosting for better contrast and colour accuracy when working in bright lighting conditions.
- Manual focus design and a minimum focus distance of 20cm suited to working with close-up subjects.
- The five-blade aperture diaphragm produces distinctive 10-point star rays and specular highlights when stopped down and when photographing point light sources.
- Compatible with the optional shift lens support bracket for more balanced mounting and to better enable use of the lens for shift panoramic photography without parallax error.
