Laowa 9mm f/5.6 FF RL
Characterised by its extremely wide field of view and rectilinear rendering, the Laowa 9mm f/5.6 FF RL for Leica L mount, by Venus Optics, is a fixed focal length lens offering a particularly wide perspective that is perfectly suited to interior, architecture, nature and landscape subjects. The immense 135° angle of view is complemented by an advanced optical design that uses low-dispersion, aspherical and high-refractive-index elements to control various aberrations and distortions in order to achieve great sharpness, clarity and colour accuracy. The lens features a manual focus design and allows working with subjects as close as 12 cm, and its integrated petal-shaped lens hood helps to block stray light that could cause unwanted flare. In addition, the lens is also characterised by its particularly compact size, making it ideal for walk-around and travel applications.
Features
- The ultra wide-angle lens is designed for full-frame L-mount cameras, but can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal length of 13.5 mm.
- Two extra-low dispersion elements are used to reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce great clarity and colour accuracy.
- Two aspherical elements and an ultra-high refractive index glass element help to control distortion and spherical aberrations to improve sharpness and accurate rendering.
- The impressive 135° angle of view is combined with a rectilinear design, which renders subjects with minimal distortion to suit landscape and architecture applications.
- Manual focus operation allows working with subjects as close as 12 cm and a focus tab is present for easier handling and control.
- The integrated petal-shaped lens hood helps to prevent stray light from causing flare and also provides physical protection to the front element of the lens.
- The five-blade aperture diaphragm produces distinctive 10-pointed sunstars and specular highlights when stopped down and when photographing point light sources.
