Laowa 9 mm f/5.6 FF RL (Silver)
Characterised by its extremely wide field of view and rectilinear rendering, the silver Laowa 9 mm f/5.6 FF RL lens with Leica M mount from Venus Optics is a fixed focal length lens offering a unique perspective particularly suited to indoor, architectural, nature and landscape subjects. The immense 135° angle of view is complemented by an advanced optical design that uses low-dispersion, aspherical and high-refractive-index elements to control a variety of aberrations and distortions for high sharpness, clarity and colour accuracy. The lens has a manual focus design and allows working with subjects as close as 4.7", and its built-in petal-shaped lens hood helps block stray light that could cause unwanted flare. Additionally, the lens is also characterised by its particularly compact size, making it ideal for walk-around and travel applications. Features - Ultra wide-angle lens designed for Leica M-mount rangefinder cameras. - Two extra-low dispersion elements are used to reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce high clarity and colour accuracy. - Two aspherical elements and one ultra-high refractive index glass element help control distortion and spherical aberrations to improve sharpness and accurate rendering. - The impressive 135° angle of view combines with a rectilinear design, which renders subjects with minimal distortion suited to landscape and architectural applications. This ultra-wide field of view will exceed that of a rangefinder camera's viewfinder and an external electronic viewfinder or live view method must be used for precise compositions. - Coupled to the rangefinder for precise focusing using the camera's viewfinder; although the lens has a minimum focus distance of 4.7", the lens/rangefinder is only coupled for precise focusing up to 2.3' and this distance is highlighted on the focus distance scale. When working between 4.7" and 2.3', live view methods must be used for precise focusing. - The built-in petal-shaped lens hood helps prevent stray light from causing lens flare and also offers some physical protection to the front element of the lens. - The five-blade diaphragm produces distinctive 10-point sunstars and specular highlights when stopped down and when photographing point light sources.
