Ideal for a wide range of photo and video applications including landscapes, portraits, street photography, architecture and events, the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary is a compact, lightweight and bright standard zoom lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras. Offered here with a Leica L mount, this lens provides a full-frame equivalent zoom range of 27-75mm and a wide constant aperture of f/2.8 throughout the zoom range. The lens design includes three high-precision moulded aspherical elements combined with a special low dispersion element. Together, they minimise the total number of elements for superb optical quality without excessive weight. Autofocus is exceptionally fast and quiet thanks to the lens's stepping motor, which can be particularly useful when shooting video or fast-moving subjects such as children and animals. A true versatile tool, the lens has a minimum focusing distance of just 12.1 cm, allowing it to be used for close-up macro photography, and the lens is also equipped with a rounded seven-blade diaphragm for pleasing, quality bokeh.
- The standard zoom lens is designed for Leica L-mount APS-C format cameras and offers an equivalent focal length range of 27-75mm.
- The constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 is well suited for working in low-light conditions and offers better control over focus position when using reduced depth of field techniques.
- Three high-precision moulded aspherical elements are used to help limit distortion and spherical aberrations and contribute to overall improved sharpness and accurate rendering.
- The special low dispersion (SLD) element reduces chromatic aberrations and colour fringing.
- Super Multi-Layer coating minimises flare and ghosting for improved contrast and colour accuracy when working in bright lighting conditions.
- In-camera aberration correction further eliminates optical imperfections such as distortion and vignetting.
- Stepping motor with near-silent autofocus making it perfectly suited for a range of photographic applications, including shooting in quiet environments, video recording and capturing fast-moving subjects.
- A minimum focusing distance of 12.1 cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.8 facilitate working with close-up subjects.
- The rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.
- Compatible with the Sigma USB Dock UD-11.
