Sigma 35mm F 1.4 Art DG DN (L-Mount)
A classic wide-angle lens updated for full-frame mirrorless systems with Leica L mount, the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN is a fixed focal length lens from the Art series characterised by its advanced and updated optical design, elegant profile and bright construction. The maximum aperture of f/1.4 allows working in low-light conditions and also offers increased control over depth of field to achieve shallow depth of field effects. The optical construction incorporates two SLD (Super Low Dispersion) elements, one ELD (Extra Low Dispersion) element and one FLD (Fluorite Low Dispersion) element. It also includes two aspherical elements and high refractive index elements to achieve a remarkable level of sharpness and clarity with well-controlled distortion and aberrations. In addition, a Super Multi-Layer coating enhances image quality by eliminating reflections and ghosting for improved contrast and colour fidelity in strong lighting conditions.
The optical balance is complemented by a refined exterior design, which includes a physical aperture ring that can be clicked or de-clicked, as well as a dedicated focus mode switch and an AFL button for intuitive and tactile control. For autofocus, a stepping motor is used, maintaining a lightweight and compact design whilst promoting fast and near-silent focusing performance for photo and video applications. In addition, the lens features an 11-blade rounded aperture for smooth bokeh quality and the lens body is also weather-sealed to suit working in challenging weather conditions.
- As a member of Sigma's Art range from the Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve truly remarkable optical performance and is ideally suited to creative and artistic applications.
- The wide-angle lens is designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras with Leica L mount, but can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal length of 52.5 mm.
- The bright maximum aperture of f/1.4 is particularly well suited to working in ambient light and offers extensive depth of field control to isolate subjects with selective focus.
- Optical construction: 15 elements in 11 groups, including one FLD low dispersion element, one ELD extra low dispersion element, two SLD special low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements.
- A Super Multi-Layer coating has been applied to the lens elements to minimise reflections and ghosting and help produce images rich in contrast and colour-neutral, even when shooting into the light. The water- and oil-repellent coating makes it easy to wipe oil and water from the front surface of the lens and prevents oil and grease from adhering for easy cleaning.
- The built-in stepping motor enables fast and silent internal autofocus, which is further enhanced by an optimised AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. Face and eye detection is supported on devices equipped with this feature.
- The manual aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth and silent aperture changes, ideal for video applications. In addition, a dedicated aperture ring lock switch can also be used to prevent accidental changes to the aperture setting.
- The built-in autofocus lock (AFL) button, to which additional functions can be assigned, extends the range of operations available on the lens.
- The eleven-blade rounded aperture contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.
- Weather-sealed construction with a brass bayonet mount that offers improved mounting precision and rigidity.
