Combining an exceptionally wide angle of view with the ability to correct perspective distortion, the Venus Optics Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift is an ideal lens for architectural and interior photography. Available here in Pentax K mount, the lens's wide 94° angle of view is complemented by an impressive shift range of +/- 11 mm to compensate for unwanted converging lines and the keystone effect. Furthermore, as a member of the Zero-D lens series, this lens also renders scenes with great accuracy and very low distortion.
In terms of optics, it comprises two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements, which reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations for excellent sharpness and clarity. A hydrophobic "Frog Eye" coating also protects the front element from water droplets and moisture. The lens uses a manual focus design to work with subjects up to 9.8" and features a fourteen-blade aperture diaphragm to produce smooth, circular bokeh as well as specular highlights when stopping down the aperture and photographing point light sources.
Ultra wide-angle lens designed for full-frame Pentax K cameras that can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an equivalent focal length of 30 mm.
As a member of the Zero-D series, this lens features an optical design that renders subjects with minimal distortion to suit architectural, interior, and landscape applications.
The built-in shift adjustment of +/- 11 mm helps correct perspective distortion and eliminate the keystone effect.
The large image circle easily covers full-frame sensors without vignetting. Additionally, this lens can also be adapted to certain medium format mirrorless cameras, where a shift of up to +/- 8 mm is available.
Two aspherical elements limit spherical aberrations and distortion for improved sharpness and accurate rendering.
Three extra-low dispersion elements reduce chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for increased clarity and colour neutrality.
The manual focus design and a minimum focusing distance of 9.8" are suited to working with close-up subjects.
The fourteen-blade aperture diaphragm creates smooth, circular bokeh as well as specular highlights when stopping down the aperture and photographing point light sources.
The 360° rotating lens hood prevents unwanted reflections and washed-out images and allows you to adjust the angle of the hood to avoid blocking the image during extreme shifts in composition.
The hydrophobic "Frog Eye" coating protects the front element from water droplets and moisture.
Compatible with the optional shift lens bracket for a more balanced mounting and to better allow use of the lens for shift panoramic photography without parallax error.
