The Samyang 21mm F1.4 ED AS UMC CS lens is a manual focus lens for mirrorless cameras equipped with an APS-C sensor or smaller. Equivalent to a standard wide-angle lens of 31.5mm on an APS-C 1.5x sensor, 34mm on a 1.6x crop (Canon M) or a standard lens of 42mm on an MFT sensor with 2x crop. An excellent manual lens for low light conditions, ideally suited as a standard prime lens for everyday photography with general photographic applications. The new Samyang 21mm completes Samyang's existing lens range, with the 21mm fitting perfectly between the current series of lenses dedicated to mirrorless cameras, which includes the 12mm wide-angle and the 50mm short focal length. The Samyang 21mm incorporates Samyang's exceptional optical technology, with eight glass elements arranged in seven optical groups, including one extra-low dispersion (ED) lens and three aspherical glass lenses (ASP) to minimise unnecessary light dispersion and deliver ultra-high resolution from the centre to the edges of the image. The lens also benefits from an Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) treatment to optimise light transmission and minimise reflections and ghosting. With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.28m, it is a versatile lens for relatively close-up work. The wide f1.4 aperture with 9 circular aperture blades is designed to deliver subject separation and shallow depth of field photography with beautiful blurred areas (bokeh). The lens's sturdy chassis is made from high-strength aluminium alloy. As the lens is specifically designed for mirrorless cameras (CSC) such as Sony NEX | ILCE, Olympus PEN | OM-D, Panasonic Lumix G, Fujifilm X and Canon EOS M, the Samyang 21mm is compact and lightweight, weighing approximately 275g, making it a highly portable lens.
