The Samyang 21mm T1.5 ED AS UMC CS VDSLR cine lens is the cine/video version of the Samyang 21mm f/1.4 ED AS UMC CS lens, with the same excellent optics, but with an integrated gear system for follow focus systems on video equipment.

The Samyang 21mm cine lens is a manual focus lens for mirrorless cameras equipped with an APS-C or smaller sensor. Equivalent to a standard wide-angle lens of 31.5mm on an APS-C sensor with a 1.5x crop factor, 34mm on a 1.6x crop factor (Canon M), or a standard 42mm lens on an MFT sensor with a 2x crop factor. An excellent manual focus lens for low-light conditions, perfectly suited as a standard prime lens for general photography.

The VDSLR version features de-clicked aperture and focus rings, perfectly suited for video and cinema use, and for mounting on follow focus systems.

The Samyang 21mm T1.5 ED AS UMC CS enables more precise shooting control with T-stops, and silent, smooth aperture control thanks to the de-clicked aperture rings. As with the entire cine series, the distance scales and T-stops are marked on both sides of the lens for added convenience.

The Samyang 21mm joins the existing range of Samyang cine lenses, fitting perfectly between the current series of lenses dedicated to mirrorless cameras, which includes the 12mm wide-angle and the 50mm short telephoto.

The Samyang 21mm incorporates Samyang's exceptional optical technology, with eight glass elements arranged in seven optical groups, including one extra-low dispersion (ED) lens and three aspherical glass (ASP) lenses to minimise unwanted light dispersion and deliver ultra-high resolution from the centre to the edge of the image. The lens also features Ultra Multi-Coating (UMC) treatment to optimise light transmission and minimise diffusion and ghosting. With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.28m, it is a versatile lens for work requiring relatively close focusing.

The fast T1.5 aperture with 9 circular aperture blades is designed to provide subject separation and shallow depth-of-field photography with beautiful background blur (bokeh). The solid lens body is made from high-strength aluminium alloy. As the lens is specifically designed for compact mirrorless cameras (CSC) such as Sony NEX/ILCE, Olympus PEN/OM-D, Panasonic Lumix G, Blackmagic video/cinema cameras with MFT mount, Fujifilm X and the Canon EOS M series, the Samyang 21mm is compact and lightweight, weighing approximately 275g, making it a highly portable lens.
