Arri Master Anamorphic 40/T1.9 M
The ARRI Master Anamorphic lenses are the result of ARRI's long-standing cooperation with Carl Zeiss. The new anamorphic lenses offer unique optical performance with optimised flares and bokeh, as well as a state-of-the-art lens mount that ensures dust and water protection. The nine lenses in the Master Prime series deliver exceptional image quality and the latest anamorphic technology for images free from distortion and anamorphic breathing effects ("mumps" effects — face widening). The near-telecentric optical design reduces chromatic fringing and corner darkening in images.
The Master Anamorphic lenses are the first anamorphic lenses designed from the ground up for modern digital cameras. Nevertheless, they work ideally with film cameras. In combination with ARRI's ALEXA 4:3 cameras for exceptional image quality across the entire image. The Master Anamorphic lenses are optimised for aesthetic rendering and feature uniformly illuminated oval flares outside the focus area without hard edges, thanks to the newly developed 15-blade iris system.
With its nine powerful prime lenses, ARRI's Master Anamorphic series has reached an important milestone in terms of technology and handling for anamorphic image recording with digital and film cameras in 35 mm format.
For the first time, it has been possible to combine compactness, light weight, high speed, exceptional image quality and minimal distortion in an anamorphic series. The ARRI Master Anamorphics offer magnificent background blur areas and a soft, cinematic rendering, while being as fast and easy to use on set as other modern cinema lenses.
Features
- 40 mm T1.9 prime lens with PL LDS mount
- Low distortion for true Cinemascope
- Bokeh (out-of-focus rendering) with cinematic rendering featuring high contrast and a pleasant transition to blur
- Beautiful skin tones and accurate colour rendition
- Typical of Cinemascope: in out-of-focus areas, highlights are reproduced in an oval shape
- Large image field for complete freedom in image composition
- Wide aperture T1.9 for shallow depth of field
- PLS LDS (Lens Data System) steel mount with communication interface
- ARRI Lens Data System (LDS) for lens metadata
- Almost no image breathing and no anamorphic image breathing effect (widened faces)
- Colour characteristics perfectly matched to other ARRI / ZEISS prime lenses and ARRI / Fujinon zooms
