The Master Prime 14 mm is part of a set of 16 ARRI/Zeiss lenses offering excellent resolution, advanced contrast, virtually no breathing effect and a fast T1.3 aperture allowing shallow depth of field. Covering a range from 12 mm to 150 mm, the Master Primes offer the skin tones and colour rendition for which Zeiss is renowned, and are colour-matched for overall consistency. These lenses feature an iris diaphragm with at least nine blades for cinematic bokeh with a distinctive focus falloff. Two floating elements ensure optimal performance at close focus while minimising the breathing effect during focusing. The advanced T*XP coating reduces reflections and flare while improving contrast.
Designed with aspherical elements to minimise chromatic aberration, the ARRI/Zeiss Master Primes offer optimal image quality and clean chroma keying. High resolution is maintained in the corners of the image even when the lens is used at full aperture and at close focus. Each lens is fitted with a PL mount and an integrated LDS system to transfer lens data to compatible cameras. The extended focus scale offers generous space for marks and features fluorescent engravings for better visibility in low-light conditions. The focus ring includes foot and metre graduations; the ring can be swapped from one system to the other by a qualified technician.
This Master Prime 14 mm has a minimum focus distance of 35 cm, focus marks in feet, a relatively light weight of 2.4 kg and a compact length of 205 mm. This lens family offers consistent placement of focus, iris and zoom rings for ease of use with follow focus systems, zoom control and wireless F/I/Z. Most lenses in the Master Prime family, including the 14 mm, have a uniform front diameter of 114 mm, allowing the use of the same matte box adapter, filter, etc.
