The Master Anamorphic lens series, developed in collaboration by ARRI and Carl Zeiss, has established a new benchmark in optical performance for anamorphic lenses. Producing organic images with pleasing skin tones and vibrant natural colours, the lenses exhibit incredibly low distortion, so that straight lines remain straight – even at close focus.
For the first time, a perfect combination of compact size, minimal weight, very high speed and exceptional optical design with minimal distortion has been achieved in a set of anamorphic lenses. With beautiful soft backgrounds and smooth cinematic rendering, the Master Anamorphic lenses are as fast and easy to use on set as other modern cinema lenses.
Image quality is consistently high across the entire image, with the 15 iris blades rendering out-of-focus backgrounds beautifully and giving a rounded edge to the classic oval-shaped bokeh highlights, which are evenly illuminated. The energetic separation of the main subject from the background and the gradual decrease in sharpness contribute to a truly immersive and cinematic rendering.
The 180 mm MA180 features an impressive aperture of T2.8 and a compact design, with a front diameter of only 95 mm. This lens exhibits the same superior image quality and perfect correction of optical aberrations as all other Master Anamorphics.
