Arriving Spring 2017
The growing demand for vintage Cooke Speed Panchro lenses from the 1920s to the 1960s prompted us to introduce a modern redesign of this vintage classic. We are pleased to present the Cooke Panchro/i Classic lenses, Prime T2.2 to T3.2.
Our new Panchro, faithful to the original look of the now legendary Speed Panchro, recreates the same look and feel as the original with the advantage of modern glass mounted for today's cameras. Additionally, the new lenses are equipped with /i technology for digital image-by-image information capture, like all modern Cooke cinema lenses for film and digital capture.
The original Cooke Speed Panchro, designed by Horace W. Lee in the 1920s, was a prime cinema lens that chromatically enhanced an image when shooting under restricted lighting. Cooke Speed Panchros combined a relative aperture as wide as f2.0 with an angular field of view and definition previously impossible with much smaller apertures. They quickly gained a worldwide reputation for quality cinematographic production and were widely used throughout the 20th century.

Features
Optical Design -- The optics are designed to deliver maximum performance at full aperture with superior control of flare, distortion and spherical aberration.
Electronics -- Accessible via contacts in the PL mount that synchronise with /i compatible cameras.
Colour Balance -- All Panchro/i Classic prime lenses are colour balanced, matched and compatible with Cooke 5/i, S4/i, miniS4/i and Anamorphic/i.
Aperture -- T2.2 to T22 except for 18mm, 100mm and 152mm. Index marks Each index mark is labelled. More detailed markings allow for more precise focus control.
Focus Movement -- Our Academy Award-winning cam focus movement, coupled with the additional advantage of a large lens barrel diameter, has enabled an increase in the number of focus markings, particularly for close focus. Spherical aberration has been controlled across the entire focal range to eliminate compensation for back focus changes with aperture. A four-point contact bearing provides smooth, positive, play-free movement.
Camera Mounts -- Reinforced Cooke PL mount with /i technology contact.
Focus Graduation -- Large, clear numerals on both sides of the focus barrel benefit the focus puller when shooting in difficult lighting conditions.
Compatibility -- All Cooke Panchro/i Classic prime lenses have a common fixed front diameter of 110mm.
External Finish -- A scratch-resistant PTFE hard-anodised finish is applied to all Cooke lenses, providing a durable and wear-resistant surface to meet the most demanding environmental conditions.
Iris -- A nine-blade linear iris assembly is integrated into the Panchro/i Classic prime lenses.
Weight/Size Ratio -- The lenses are designed for all shooting applications, including handheld and Steadicam shooting, offering a comfortable balance ratio with the latest compact cameras.
Reliability and Service -- Panchro/i Classic prime lenses are designed to meet a market requirement for totally reliable performance with minimal downtime.
