The Samyang 10mm T3.1 ED AS NCS CS VDSLR lens is the cine/video version of the Samyang 10mm T3.1 ED AS NCS CS lens, featuring the same excellent optics, but with integrated gearing for focus tracking systems on video platforms.
The Samyang 10mm lenses are ultra-wide-angle manual focus prime lenses designed for APS-C cameras with CS/cropped sensors, offering excellent optical quality and exceptional resolution, providing an extremely wide field of view up to 109.5 degrees of rectilinear image.
The Samyang 10mm lenses are the first Samyang lenses to feature an all-new Nano Crystal coating System (NCS) anti-reflection coating system. This new coating offers an even lower reflection factor than Samyang's UMC coatings. The NCS coating technology offers a precise process for applying the anti-reflection coating more uniformly on the lens surface. Other benefits provided by the nanocrystal layer include improved light transmission and increased resistance to reflections, resulting in maximum image contrast.
Combined with a T3.1 aperture, considered fast for a wide-angle lens, it offers good low-light capabilities.
Like all Samyang lenses, the 10mm is very well constructed for a lens in its class. The optical construction comprises 14 elements arranged in 10 groups, including 2 AS aspherical lenses and an extra-low dispersion glass element. The Samyang 10mm VDSLR has a built-in fixed lens hood.
Although the VDSLR versions were developed primarily for professional film/cinema production, they can also be used for still photography. Samyang VDSLR versions are rated in T-Stops rather than F-stops, which is customary for cinema camera lenses. The F-stop number expresses the lens speed assuming the lens transmits 100% of incident light. The T number expresses actual light transmission, which is more accurate and is the standard for professional cinema lenses.
Available in 10 camera mounts: Canon EF, Canon-M, Nikon F, Pentax K, Sony A, Sony-E, Four-Thirds, MFT, Samsung NX and Fujifilm X.
