The new Samyang 14mm VDSLR (Video Digital SLR) version has been developed primarily for cinema/shooting and video with Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony A and E-Mount cameras or professional camcorders fitted with corresponding mounts.

Like the standard 14mm lens, it features the same exceptional optics with the addition of de-clicked focus and aperture rings. These modifications allow the user to adjust focus and aperture/depth of field smoothly and silently during shooting, and enable coupling with professional follow focus systems. The aperture and focus scale has been moved to the side of the lens to assist videographers.

When using the Samyang 14mm on an APS-C DSLR - the field of view still equates to approximately 22mm (35mm equivalent), which remains impressive for a wide-angle. It produces an immense field of view - 114 degrees on full-frame sensors, 93.9˚ (Nikon APS-C with 1.5x crop factor), or 89.9˚ with Canon EOS (1.6x crop factor)

The Samyang 14mm T3.5 IF ED UMC Aspherical lens offers high quality construction, with an integrated petal-shaped lens hood to help protect the lens from light sources behind the camera.

The Samyang 14mm has aperture and focus rings with smooth, well-dampened clicks, and couples with follow focus systems. This enables precise manual focus, particularly suited to filmmakers or professional shooting with DSLRs where manual focus is preferred, allowing focus pulling during video recording.

The optical construction comprises 14 elements in 12 optical groups with 3 high refractive index elements, 2x ED elements, one hybrid aspherical element plus one aspherical glass element. The latest generation of anti-reflection coatings: UMC - Ultra Multi Coated is incorporated to minimise reflections and ghosting. The lens is supplied with a special clip-on front cap, rear cap and soft pouch.

Available in Canon EF, Canon M, Sony A, Sony E, Pentax K, Fujifilm X, Samsung NX, Four Thirds and Panasonic/Olympus Micro Four Thirds MFT.
