The Samyang 35 mm T1.5 AS UMC VDSLR lens is a bright wide-angle prime lens with manual focus for full-frame cameras, or a bright standard lens when used on APS-C/DX sensors, available for Canon, Nikon, Sony E and A mounts, as well as Micro Four Thirds (MFT) This VDSLR (Video DSLR) version was developed primarily for professional filmmaking. The VDSLR version is equipped with a geared focus ring and a de-clicked aperture ring, which allow the user to smoothly and silently adjust focus and aperture/depth of field during shooting, and to connect to professional follow focus systems. The Samyang is rated in T-stops rather than F-stops, which is customary for cinema camera lenses. The F-number expresses the brightness of the lens assuming it transmits 100% of the incident light. The T-number expresses the actual light transmission, which is more accurate and is the standard for professional cinema lenses. The VDSLR version of the Samyang 35 mm T1.5 AS UMC lens is optically identical to the standard version Samyang 35 mm f1.4 AS UMC. Offering superior resolution and sharpness across the entire image, equalling or surpassing lenses three times more expensive, the Samyang 35 mm is truly a professional quality lens at an affordable price. Suitable for full-frame and cropped sensors, the 35 mm focal length has universal applications; the lens is a perfect bright/fast wide-angle for landscape, photojournalism and general photography, including low-light photography. Mounted on a camera with an APS-C sensor, it becomes a versatile 50 mm prime lens, perfect for general photography including low-light photography. At wide apertures, the Samyang 35 mm video lens delivers beautiful bokeh (the character of out-of-focus areas), perfect for portrait-type applications, or photography where ultra-blurred backgrounds or foregrounds are preferred. This technique helps to separate the subject from the background, giving very pleasing and professional results in photography and video. Thanks to its 8-blade aperture design, the smoothness of the bokeh provided by the Samyang 35 mm is excellent. Although the character of bokeh is a personal preference, various independent tests and users rank the Samyang 35 mm lens among the best lenses, regardless of cost or manufacturer, with regard to its bokeh character. The optical design of the Samyang 35 mm T1.5 lens comprises twelve elements arranged in ten groups and includes two high-refractive-index elements, which helps to reduce its weight and dimensions to a moderate level for a full-frame lens. The inclusion of an aspherical optical element minimises and helps to reduce lateral chromatic aberration, the UMC multi-layer coating offers high contrast and faithful colour reproduction. The design incorporates floating elements to maintain high image quality at minimum focusing distance. The focus ring features geared rings compatible with professional follow focus systems available in the film industry, as does the geared and de-clicked aperture ring. These modifications allow smooth and precise control of focus and aperture during video recording/shooting. This enables ultimate manual control of focus and exposure when shooting scene by scene with different intensities of light sources, such as changing exposure values (EV) from indoors to outdoors, or even in-camera fades, etc. Samyang's VDSLR versions can be used for both photography and video. More and more users are using DSLRs for high-definition (HD) shooting and video, and manual lenses allow the user to change focus (follow focus) and aperture during shooting. The Samyang 35 mm F1.4 AS UMC was designed with great attention to the finest details, both optically and in terms of build quality, which places the lens among the best photographic products in its category. Supplied with front and rear caps, a petal-type lens hood (reversible for transport) and a soft pouch. Filter diameter 77 mm specifications
