The Samyang 50mm T1.5 AS UMC VDSLR cine lens is the cine/video version of the Samyang 50mm f1.4 AS UMC, offering the same excellent optics, but with an integrated gear system for follow focus systems on video platforms. This specially designed Samyang 50mm lens is full-frame compatible, suitable for interchangeable lens cameras and camcorders equipped with a 24x36 mm (full-frame) sensor or smaller.

The Samyang 50mm standard lens offers a 46.2-degree field of view with a fast T1.5 (f/1.4) aperture for excellent low-light videography/photography and shallow depth of field work. Superb image quality and shallow depth of field with naturally and beautifully rendered bokeh, thanks to the use of 8 circular aperture blades, make it particularly well suited to cinema work where subject separation from the background is desired.

The optics consist of nine elements arranged in six groups (including one aspherical element and one hybrid aspherical element). To ensure high contrast and faithful colour reproduction, all elements have been coated with Samyang's UMC multi-layer anti-reflection coatings.

Samyang's VDSLR versions are rated in T-Stops rather than F-stops, which is the standard for cinema camera lenses. The F-stop number expresses the speed of the lens assuming the optics transmit 100% of the incident light. The T number expresses the actual light transmission, which is more accurate and is the standard for professional cinema lenses.
