The Samyang 50mm T1.5 AS UMC VDSLR lens is the cinema/video version of the Samyang 50mm f1.4 AS UMC, retaining the same excellent optics, but with an integrated gear reduction system for video devices equipped with follow focus systems. This specially designed Samyang 50mm lens is full-frame compatible, suitable for interchangeable-lens cameras and camcorders equipped with a 24x36mm (full-frame) sensor or smaller.

The Samyang 50mm standard lens offers a field of view of 46.2 degrees with a fast T1.5 (f/1.4) aperture for excellent low-light video/photo shooting and working with a shallow depth of field. Superb image quality and a shallow depth of field with a natural and beautiful bokeh thanks to the use of 8 circular aperture blades make it particularly suited to cinema, where subject separation from the background is desired.

The optics consist of nine elements arranged in six groups (including one aspherical element and one hybrid aspherical element). To ensure high contrast and faithful colour reproduction, all elements have been treated with Samyang's UMC multi-layer anti-reflection coatings.

Samyang's VDSLR versions are rated in T-Stops rather than F-stops, which is customary for cinema camera lenses. The F-stop number expresses the speed of the lens assuming that the optics transmit 100% of the incident light. The T number expresses the actual light transmission, which is more precise, and is the standard for professional cinema lenses.
