The Samyang 24mm F1.4 ED AS UMC is a high-quality, wide-angle prime lens with a large aperture, for full-frame or APS-C sensors for Canon EF, Canon M, Sony A, Sony E, Pentax K, Fujifilm X, Samsung NX, Four Thirds, and Olympus and Panasonic Micro Four Thirds MFT. A Nikon version with automatic exposure (AE) is available (listed separately).
It is ideal for full-frame cameras, including recent Sony full-frame E-mount cameras, providing a high-quality wide-angle lens perfect for street, landscape and architectural photography, even in low-light conditions. Sharpness is excellent, even at the edges of the frame at wide apertures, and the fast f/1.4 aperture allows for a shallow depth of field when needed.
Photographers using Canon DX / APS-C sensors will get a field of view of approximately 38mm (35mm equivalent) suitable for photojournalism and general photography. On Four Thirds cameras, the field of view would be approximately that of a standard 50mm lens (35mm equivalent), offering a standard prime lens with a large aperture, and a 50mm equivalent with Micro Four Thirds (MFT)
The Samyang 24mm F1.4 ED AS UMC is a manual focus prime lens. The manual focus ring is wide, easily accessible and perfectly suited for most photographic applications, except for applications such as sports or where autofocus lenses would be better considered.
For cinematographic and video applications, manual focus is often the preferred choice, allowing focus to be changed during shooting and there are increasingly more users using DSLRs for high-definition (HD) filming and video.
This Samyang 24mm f/1.4 ED AS UMC lens has a standard coupled aperture (with click), adjustable in 1-stop (1 EV) intervals. Precise focusing at very short distances or in critical focusing situations can be achieved using live view focus mode.
The Samyang 24mm offers superb bokeh (the character of out-of-focus areas), thanks to its 8-blade circular aperture design and fast aperture. The optical construction includes 13 lenses arranged in 12 groups, 4 lenses are made of low dispersion glass (ED), plus two aspherical elements. The 24mm features Ultra Multi Coated (UMC) multi-coated lenses for the best possible light transmission, and resistance to ghosting and flare.
The Samyang 24mm F1.4 ED AS UMC lens offers a professional wide-angle lens with excellent optics, while managing to offer excellent value for money.
Supplied with a detachable petal-shaped lens hood, lens caps and a soft case. The filter size is 77mm.
