The Samyang 24mm F1.4 ED AS UMC is a high quality wide-angle prime lens with a large aperture for full-frame or APS-C sensors, compatible with Canon EF, Canon M, Sony A, Sony E, Pentax K, Fujifilm X, Samsung NX, Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds (MFT) mounts from Olympus and Panasonic. An automatic version with automatic exposure (AE) for Nikon is available (referenced separately).
It is ideal for full-frame cameras, including the latest Sony full-frame E-mount cameras, offering a high quality wide-angle lens perfect for street, landscape and architectural photography, even in low light. Sharpness is excellent, even at the edges of the image at large apertures, and the fast f/1.4 aperture allows a shallow depth of field when needed.
Photographers using Canon DX/APS-C sensors will get a field of view of approximately 38mm (35mm equivalent) suited to photojournalism and general photography. On Four Thirds cameras, the field of view would approximately correspond to that of a standard 50mm lens (35mm equivalent), offering a fast standard prime lens, and a 50mm equivalent with Micro Four Thirds (MFT).
The Samyang 24mm F1.4 ED AS UMC is a manual focus prime lens. The manual focus ring is wide, easily accessible and perfectly suited to most photographic applications, with the exception of applications such as sports or those where autofocus lenses would be preferable.
For cinematographic and video applications, manual focus is often the preferred choice, allowing focus changes during shooting, and there is a growing number of users using DSLRs for filming and high definition (HD) video.
This Samyang 24mm f/1.4 ED AS UMC lens features a standard coupled aperture (with click stops), adjustable in 1-stop (1 EV) intervals. Precise focusing at very close distances or in critical focusing situations can be achieved using Live View focusing.
The Samyang 24mm offers beautiful bokeh (the character of out-of-focus areas), thanks to its 8-blade circular diaphragm and large maximum aperture. The optical construction comprises 13 elements arranged in 12 groups, including 4 extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements, plus two aspherical elements. The 24mm features Ultra Multi Coated (UMC) lenses for optimal light transmission and resistance to flare and ghosting.
The Samyang 24mm F1.4 ED AS UMC lens offers a professional wide-angle lens with excellent optics, while providing excellent value for money.
Supplied with a removable petal-shaped lens hood, lens caps and a soft case. Filter size is 77mm.
