The Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC is a bright wide-angle manual focus lens for full-frame cameras, or a fast standard lens when used on APS-C/DX sensors, available for Canon EF, Canon M, Sony A, Sony E, Pentax K, Fujifilm X, Samsung NX, Four Thirds and Panasonic / Olympus Micro Four Thirds (MFT) mounts. Offering excellent resolution and sharpness across the entire image, equalling or surpassing lenses three times more expensive, the Samyang 35mm lens is truly a professional-quality lens at an affordable price. The Samyang 35mm f1.4 AS UMC lens was designed to fit the most popular digital SLR cameras. On a full-frame camera, the 35mm focal length offers universal applications — the lens is a perfect bright/fast wide-angle for landscape, journalism and general photography, including low-light photography. Mounted on a camera with an APS-C sensor, it becomes a versatile 50mm prime lens, perfect for general photography, including low-light photography. Mounted on cameras with the 4/3 system, the Samyang 35mm F1.4 AS UMC transforms into a bright short portrait lens with an equivalent focal length of 70mm. The wide apertures of the 35mm produce beautiful bokeh (the character of out-of-focus areas), which is perfect for portrait-type applications, or photography where ultra-soft and blurred backgrounds or foregrounds are preferred. This technique helps to separate the subject from the background, giving very pleasing and professional results. Aided by its 8-blade diaphragm design, the smoothness of the bokeh offered by the Samyang 35mm is excellent. Although bokeh character is a personal preference, various independent tests and users rank the Samyang 35mm lens as one of the best lenses, regardless of cost or manufacturer, for its bokeh character. The optical design of the Samyang 35mm f1.4 UMC lens comprises twelve elements arranged in ten groups and includes two high refractive index elements, which help reduce its weight and dimensions to a moderate level for a lens capable of covering the full frame. The inclusion of an aspherical optical element minimises and helps reduce lateral chromatic aberration, while UMC multi-layer coatings provide high contrast and faithful colour reproduction. The design incorporates floating elements to preserve high image quality at the minimum focusing distance. It features a wide and comfortable manual focus ring and is perfectly suited to most photographic applications. Precise focus for critical situations can be achieved using Live View focusing, available on most new camera models. There is a growing number of users using digital SLRs to shoot High Definition (HD) films and videos, and manual lenses allow the user to change focus during shooting. The Samyang 35mm F1.4 AS UMC was designed with attention to the finest details, both in optics and build quality, which places the lens among the best photographic products in its category. Supplied with front and rear lens caps, a petal-shaped lens hood (reversible for transport) and a soft lens pouch. Filter diameter 77mm specifications
