The Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC is a fast wide-angle prime lens with manual focus for full-frame cameras, or a fast standard lens when used on APS-C/DX sensors, available in Canon EF, Canon M, Sony A, Sony E, Pentax K, Fujifilm X, Samsung NX, Four Thirds and Panasonic / Olympus Micro Four Thirds (MFT) mounts.
Offering excellent resolution and sharpness across the entire image, matching or exceeding lenses three times more expensive, the Samyang 35mm is truly a professional-class lens at an affordable price.
The Samyang 35mm f1.4 AS UMC lens has been designed to fit most popular SLR and DSLR cameras. On a full-frame camera, the 35mm focal length has universal applications, the lens is the perfect bright/fast wide-angle for landscape, photojournalism and general photography, including low-light photography. Mounted on a camera with APS-C sensor, it becomes a versatile 50mm prime lens, perfect for general photography including low-light photography. Mounted on cameras with the 4/3 system, the Samyang 35mm F1.4 AS UMC transforms into a short, bright portrait lens with an equivalent focal length of 70mm.
The large apertures of the 35mm offer beautiful bokeh (the character of the blurred areas), perfect for portrait-type applications, or photography where ultra-soft backgrounds or foregrounds are preferred. This technique helps separate the subject from the background giving very pleasing and professional results. Aided by its 8-blade diaphragm design, the smoothness of the bokeh provided by the Samyang 35mm is excellent. Although bokeh character is a personal preference, various independent tests and users rate the Samyang 35mm lens as one of the best lenses, regardless of cost or manufacturer, in terms of its bokeh character.
The optical design of the Samyang 35mm f1.4 UMC lens includes twelve elements arranged in ten groups and includes two high refractive index elements, which helps reduce its weight and dimensions to a moderate level for a full-frame lens. The inclusion of an aspherical optical element minimizes and helps reduce lateral chromatic aberration, UMC multi-coatings provide high contrast and faithful color reproduction. The design incorporates floating elements allowing high image quality to be maintained with a minimum focusing distance.
It features a comfortable wide manual focus ring and is perfectly suited for most photographic applications. Precise focusing for critical situations can be achieved through the use of Live View focus mode, available on most recent camera models.
There is a growing number of users using DSLRs for HD filming and video and manual lenses allow the user to change focus during filming.
The Samyang 35mm F1.4 AS UMC has been designed with great attention to detail, both optically and in manufacturing, placing the lens among the best photographic products in its category.
Supplied with front and rear caps, petal lens hood (reversible for transport) and a soft pouch. Filter size 77mm
