Current IATA regulations for passengers limit batteries to 2 between 100-160Wh and to a reasonable number below 100Wh. The recently amended IATA regulation, Packing Instruction 965 Section 1A, stipulates that only cargo flights may accept packages containing approved Li-ion batteries under the designation UN3480. Nowadays, this is the only possible way to ship batteries over 100Wh by air. Strict shipping procedures require the use of special UN-approved packaging. These cases have been certified in accordance with UN regulations and have a unique approval number issued by an international body, thus providing the user with greater peace of mind for air transport of batteries. The BX4 case features a shock-resistant outer casing. The interior features high-density cushioning foam to eliminate any risk of internal contact. Each battery is separated in individual compartments. When a BLUESHAPE battery is shipped in this case with the supplied contact covers in place, the risk of damage during flight is reduced to zero. The number of batteries allowed in each case is specifically calculated to comply with UN3480 regulations.
