The Kino Flo FreeStyle 31 LED unleashes your creative side by using a quick-release system to remove the LED panel from the plastic housing. The more compact format and lightweight LED panel combined with four protective corners add greater mounting versatility. The LED panel also includes an additional mating plate for stand mounting. The Kino Flo FreeStyle 31 and 21 LEDs include three menu options, a white menu and two colour menus. Those who prefer to work with white light can use the "white menu" which gives the user access to dimming, Kelvin and green/magenta control channels. The Kelvin range goes from 2700K tungsten to 6500K daylight.
MTP-BG41S mount with short Baby receiver (16 mm).
The Kino extension arm with Baby receiver, MTP-B41F (sold separately) can be used to centre the weight and balance of the fixture on a stand. It can also be suspended under a baby stand for use as uplighting. A Baby mount for ballast (MTP-BAL1) is available as an accessory. The MTP-BAL1 can be used with a Mafer clamp to mount the controller to a stand, for example.
The FreeStyle 151 LED DMX controller
The FreeStyle 151 LED DMX controller includes cutting-edge features; variable colour temperature control; full dimming; programmable presets; three menu options, a white menu and two colour menus. The "white menu" gives the user access to Dimming, Kelvin and Green/Magenta control channels. The Kelvin range goes from 2700K to 5500K. In the first colour menu, the Kelvin range goes from 2500K tungsten to 9900K daylight and Kino Flo has configured a fourth channel called Gel. The Gel channel includes Kino Flo presets such as blue and green screen, sodium vapour, mercury vapour and over 100 well-known lighting gels.
Additionally, there is also a fifth channel called Hue Angle and a sixth channel, Saturation. These two channels behave similarly to a traditional colour wheel, where you have white light at the centre, the Hue Angle determines the colour across a 360-degree range and the Saturation determines the amount of colour applied. The second colour menu provides individual red, green, blue (RGB) control. This menu is an excellent way to work with applications with predetermined RGB presets or colour wheels. It operates flicker-free and does not change colour temperature when dimming. Light levels are consistent across the entire Kelvin range. The controller can be used remotely with a 7.5 m extension cable or can easily be attached to the rear of the FreeStyle LED fixture with hook-and-loop fasteners. With built-in DMX and Lumen Radio receivers, FreeStyle LEDs can be controlled via DMX or wireless DMX with automatic DMX termination. The energy-efficient FreeStyle 151 LED DMX controller operates on universal input voltage 100-240 VAC at only 1.25 A (120 VAC) (FreeStyle 31) or can also operate on 24 VDC using only 6.25 A.
Power Supply AC Input
- The FreeStyle 151 LED DMX controller is AC powered and includes an IEC connection. The controller includes a universal 100-240 VAC input.
DC Input
The FreeStyle 151 LED DMX controller can also operate on 24 VDC (input range 18-36 VDC) via a 3-pin XLR. The pin polarity is:
- Pin No. 1 - Earth
- Pin 2 - +18-36 VDC
- Pin 3 - Not used
Block Battery/KF21
The KF21 battery can power 28.8 V applications (20-34 VDC). Runtime for the FreeStyle 21/31 LED is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes at full brightness. When fixtures are dimmed, the battery lasts longer. Charging time is only 1.5 hours compared to approximately 4 hours for a full charge of lithium batteries. Unlike lithium batteries, the Kino Flo/BlockBattery is also suitable for travel without restrictions. The Kino Flo/BlockBattery system includes a Mafer mount, BAT-MM1, with a 28.8 V output with 3-pin XLR, 0.9 m. The battery slides onto the mount and attaches to a Mafer clamp. The 3-pin XLR cable connects to the FreeStyle 151 LED DMX controller.
DMX operation
The FreeStyle 151 LED DMX operates on three DMX channels (in White mode) using DMX512 (six DMX channels in Colour mode). The first channel controls dimming; the 2nd channel controls colour temperature in Kelvin; the 3rd channel controls tint. In Gels/Hue mode: the 4th channel controls Gel; the 5th channel controls hue angle and the 6th channel controls Saturation. In RGB Colour mode, the 4th channel controls Red; the 5th channel controls Green and the 6th channel controls Blue.
Wireless operation
The FreeStyle 151 LED DMX controller includes a built-in Lumen Radio receiver and can be used wirelessly with a Lumen Radio transmitter (sold separately). Wireless is an alternative to using DMX cables.
The FreeStyle extension cable
Up to 15 metres (2 x 7.5 m) of extension cable can be used between the fixture and the controller.
Light control
In addition to plastic honeycomb grids, another light control option is the Flozier available in half-stop. The Flozier attaches to the barn doors and can be adjusted in different configurations.

The FreeStyle/GT 21 LED system consists of four elements: the FreeStyle/GT 21 LED fixture, the mounting plate, the FreeStyle 151 LED DMX controller and the extension cable. It was designed this way to offer greater flexibility in lighting solutions for complex situations.
FreeStyle 31 LED fixture
The FreeStyle LED fixture includes integrated barn doors and consists of a removable LED panel and baffle. The baffle is held in place with Velcro fasteners. The LED panel can be removed from the fixture housing by pressing the locking pin and turning the knurled screw. The fixture has a bayonet mating plate to accept a bayonet mount. The LED panel also has a bayonet mating plate to accept a removable bayonet mount and has moulded corners for additional rigging options.
Mounting
One of the design features of the FreeStyle LED fixture is the removable centre bayonet mount. When in place, the fixture easily mounts to a light stand; when removed, the fixture is flat and can be hand-held or concealed in a space too small to place a stand-mounted fixture. When the mount is removed, the eyelets along the edge of the fixture are designed to allow the fixture to be screwed to a wall or ceiling. The controller can also be attached to the rear of the fixture with hook-and-loop fasteners or operate remotely with an extension cable. The FreeStyle removable LED panel also has its own mating plate to accept the bayonet mounting plate. The LED panel can be hand-held with the KinoGrip mount and also features moulded corners as rigging points for suspension by rope, for example. The standalone Gaffer Plate (FIX-F21T) is an accessory, sold separately. The Gaffer Plate accommodates the removable LED panel. The centre KinoGrip mount and LED controller can be attached. The plate achieves a more compact fixture without having to fold back the plastic barn doors. When the mount and controller are removed, the plate can be screwed to a wall or ceiling via its mounting points. The standard mount comes with a KinoGrip mount with Baby receiver (MTP-BG41) which mounts to a baby stand. The ball-joint mount allows the fixture to be oriented through a wide range of angles. With the KinoGrip, the lightweight fixture or removable LED panel can be hand-held. A short version and mount with 3/8" spigot are also available as accessories. The yellow wire loops are there to provide attachment points for a safety chain. Mounting options include the MTP-KG41 mount with 3/8" (10 mm) spigot;
