The Matthews stainless steel wire (SST) diffusion scrim is rust-resistant and withstands intense and irregular heat well, making it preferable for use with open-face or Fresnel-type fixtures. Stainless steel scrims do not diffuse light; their function is to reduce light intensity at the source. Scrims do not affect colour temperature and produce no electronic interference. They can be stacked to achieve unlimited variations of light intensity. Available from 5" to 29" to meet the needs of almost all professional industry lighting. Scrims are available in single, double, half-single and half-double configurations. Half scrims are used to reduce part of the beam and are commonly used when light strikes the subject or background plane at an angle. The half scrim reduces the light falling on the closest part of the plane to balance it with the light reaching the furthest part of the plane.
