The Matthews Crank-O-Vator III is a robust crank lighting stand designed to support large lighting installations. Its all-metal construction allows for a maximum load capacity of 90 kg, which can be raised to a height of 3.44 m and lowered to 1.43 m whilst maintaining stability. For transport and storage, the stand folds to a length of 1.58 m and weighs 41 kg.


The stand's lifting function is controlled by a main crank which uses a rack-and-pinion configuration to reduce moving components in the drive system. This design requires only two moving parts, ensuring minimal wear and longer mechanical life with less maintenance required.
