Venus Optics - LAOWA 24 mm F/14 2x Macro Probe for Canon EF VE2414C
Described as "strange but brilliant", the Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe with Canon EF mount from Venus Optics is a truly unique lens designed for close-up photography. Characterised by its long, thin lens barrel, this macro lens offers a maximum magnification of 2:1 with a minimum focus distance of 1.5' and a minimum working distance of close to 0.8". Even with such a short working distance, the lens measures 1.3' in length, placing you at a comfortable distance for photographing close-up subjects. Furthermore, as a wide-angle lens, a greater depth of field is achieved compared to traditional telephoto macro lenses, allowing for more background detail with less subject isolation.
The optical design includes both extra-low dispersion elements and extra refractive index elements, which help to suppress chromatic and spherical aberrations for a high degree of clarity, colour accuracy and sharpness. Manual focus control allows focusing from 1.5' to infinity, and the front of the lens features an integrated LED ring to facilitate focusing at short distances. The slim 0.2" diameter of the front of the lens barrel also provides greater opportunities for front-lighting subjects. Additionally, the front part of the lens is waterproof and allows working with subjects just below the water surface or in other dusty or challenging environments.
