From macro to infinity, the Laowa 60mm f/2.8 2X Ultra-Macro lens in Sony E mount from Venus Optics is a portrait-length prime lens offering the unique ability to photograph close-up subjects from as close as 6.1 cm with a 2:1 magnification ratio, as well as distant subjects with infinity focus. The versatility offered by this manual focus lens allows you to work with close-up subjects and then quickly switch to distant subjects without requiring extension tubes or other adapters. The lens is optimised for use on APS-C format sensors, where it will provide an equivalent focal length of 90mm, and it can also be used on full-frame cameras, although vignetting will occur when focusing at infinity.
The lens construction includes nine elements arranged in seven groups, and two of the lens groups move to control focus and prevent barrel distortion. This design also helps maintain high image clarity, sharpness, and colour accuracy. A 14-blade rounded diaphragm contributes to the smooth background blur quality, which is particularly beneficial when working with close subjects and selective focus techniques.
