Mirage VND Kit
Built robustly for daily use on your camera rig while remaining lightweight for handheld, stabilizer, or drone use, the Tilta Mirage VND Kit is a modular system that attaches to lenses with a 95mm outer diameter. The included variable ND system allows you to precisely adjust the ND effect from 0.3 to 2.7 stops as needed. The matte box weighs about the same as a standard 4 x 5.65" glass filter, and it accepts Tilta's 95mm round filters with the included filter adapter. The modular design means you can configure the matte box to meet your needs shot by shot. The included rigid sunshade and removable top flag help reduce reflections and protect your image from light flares coming from above. Four included lens adapters allow you to mount the Mirage Matte Box on lenses with 67, 72, 77, or 82mm front thread sizes. An optional stackable 4 x 5.65" filter holder allows you to mount 4 x 5.65" filters on the matte box. Other modular components, such as a top flag, dual circular filter holder, filter protector, and rubber donut for filming against windows, are available separately.
Variable ND System
The included VND module allows you to precisely adjust the ND effect from 0.3 to 2.7 stops. The module has fixed stops between ND 0.3 and 2.7 to reduce the risk of the dreaded X-pattern appearing. The variable ND has no color shift for natural colors, and it features a larger axis between the filter elements. To avoid vignetting, Tilta recommends using ND 0.3 to 2.1 for wide-angle lenses and ND 2.1 to 2.7 for focal lengths beyond 35mm. The gear adjustment mechanism allows you to control the VND module using an optional motor.

The matte box body has been designed to facilitate air circulation with built-in vents that can reduce wind resistance and improve stability when shooting high-speed subjects, such as in car or drone shots.
Modular design
The modular design allows you to configure your matte box in various ways: from a minimalist setup using only the 95mm filter holder with the lens attachment ring, to adding a stackable 4 x 5.65" tray, the included sunshade, the included top flag, or replacing the sunshade with an optional rubber donut. Additionally, you can add the optional 15mm LWS rod support to mount the matte box on rods for managing heavier filter loads, such as the optional VND (Variable Neutral Density) system.

Tilta's 95mm circular filter system provides coverage for lenses with an outer tube diameter of up to 95mm, and it offers significant weight reduction compared to traditional filters, as circular filters weigh about 1/4 of the weight of traditional 4 x 5.65" glass filters.

An optional stackable 4 x 5.65" filter holder can be added between the filter clamp and the sunshade, allowing you to easily add one or two 4 x 5.65" filters to the matte box.
