Since the launch of Rycote's highly popular flagship windshield kit - the Cyclone - customers had been requesting stereo versions. Rycote listened and embarked on an intensive and detailed product development cycle to date. The Rycote Stereo Cyclone range includes a comprehensive selection of professional windshield kits, designed for popular stereo techniques, such as X/Y, Mid-Side and Double Mid-Side, as well as models designed for single microphone and ambisonic applications.
Each model has been individually designed to perfectly complement specific and popular stereo microphone combinations. Whether for production sound, broadcasting, audio for video games or wildlife recording - if you're using stereo recording to create directionality, perspective, space, atmosphere and realism - there's a perfect Stereo Cyclone model for you!

The Cyclone range represents the pinnacle of wind and shock isolation available for audio professionals. By successfully addressing the design challenges presented by the introduction of multiple microphones, Rycote is now able to offer the exceptional performance of the Cyclone for stereo microphone applications. Rycote's unique design approach has allowed them to maintain as compact an overall size as possible – thus, most Stereo Cyclone models use small or medium-sized Cyclone baskets. Each Stereo Cyclone windshield is individually handcrafted by highly skilled Rycote technicians.
An elegant and improved Connbox design
Specifically designed for internal cable routing, isolation and vibration reduction, the original Connbox has been redesigned for stereo and multi-channel microphone configurations. Each Connbox has been uniquely built for a specific microphone setup. Every wire and connector has been precisely measured to deliver maximum performance. This completely efficient and ready-to-use solution for connection issues means you don't have to worry—just plug in your microphones!
Exceptional microphone shock isolation
Rycote uses its Lyre® microphone suspension to reduce the majority of shock and handling noise. The Stereo Cyclone also incorporates Rycote's Floating Basket Suspension* (patent pending): an innovative design that prevents natural resonances and vibrations from bypassing the main suspension and radiating from the basket structure itself (an effect known as 'acoustic re-radiation'). The Stereo Cyclone takes the Lyre principle and incorporates it into the parts of the suspension that connect directly to the basket; the entire structure 'floats', isolating problematic internal vibrations from booms and other sources. Stereo configurations are particularly sensitive to acoustic re-radiation effects as more microphones are directed towards the overall basket surface. This is why Rycote has integrated the Floating Basket Suspension. The result is a windshield with exceptional vibration isolation.
Acoustically transparent
As with their existing Cyclone range, the Stereo Cyclone features an open-cell structure composed of curved contours and no straight or parallel surfaces. This design significantly reduces the ambient tonality effects inherent in conventional tubular windshield designs. The aerodynamic and asymmetric basket design, along with the unique and acoustically transparent 3D-Tex® material, offer enormous advantages in terms of surface turbulence and acoustic impedance.
Industry-leading wind protection
The unique Cyclone design shifts the majority of volume towards the front of the basket. This aerodynamically efficient asymmetric basket, covered with 3D-Tex material, offers enormous advantages in terms of surface turbulence and acoustic impedance, resulting in wind noise reduction comparable to the combined performance of a modular windshield and fur cover. In truly extreme weather conditions, an optional Cyclone Windjammer can be used to provide wind noise reduction that far exceeds any other windshield system available today.
