Close-range sounds, wind and rapid microphone boom movements can all cause unwanted noise. To avoid these unwanted sounds, windscreen accessories are available.
They are generally made from open-cell polyurethane foam. These windscreens do not cause parasitic resonances and do not influence the directivity. Only the upper frequency range sees its output level slightly attenuated.
Wind noise attenuation was measured without electronic filtering in a turbulent airflow at 20 km/h, generated by a silent wind machine.
Wind noise attenuation 27 dB. Attenuation at 15 kHz 3 dB. Ø 90 mm.
