Sony Alpha A7 Mark III with 24-105mm lens
Take control of freedom of expression
With outstanding imaging capability and high-speed performance contained in a compact body, the α7 III gives you the power, precision, and flexibility to capture once-in-a-lifetime moments just as you like.
Rendering scenes with realistic details
A newly developed back-illuminated image sensor and evolved image processing system meet diverse shooting needs with high-quality imaging capabilities that you'd expect only from a full-frame camera.
Newly developed sensor, evolved image processor
The latest technology achieves impressive processing speed
A new version of the 24.2-megapixel4 Exmor R™ CMOS sensor, now featuring a back-illuminated structure, is paired with the latest BIONZ X™ image processing engine and front-end LSI, and this combination achieves a data readout speed that is two times faster5 and data processing capability that is 1.8 times higher5.
Back-illuminated full-frame sensor
Increased sensitivity and readout speed
The camera's 35mm full-frame CMOS image sensor with back-illuminated structure enhances light collection efficiency, expands circuitry scale, and, with the help of a copper wiring layer that contributes to faster data transfer, outputs data at very high speed while minimizing noise to reveal fine details in every image.
Noise reduction in high-resolution images
Image quality improvement of up to 1.5 EV
The standard ISO range is extended to ISO 100-51200 (expandable to ISO 50-2048006 for stills), while detail reproduction and area-specific noise reduction technologies maintain image details and reduce noise. With highly effective performance in the medium to high sensitivity ranges, you can shoot at high ISO without worrying about noise and image deterioration.
Dynamic range up to approximately 15 stops
A dynamic range of about 15 stops7 at low sensitivity settings is realised through a redesigned CMOS image sensor and image processor that provide smooth gradation from shadows to highlights. This gives you greater freedom for creative imaging.
Faithful color reproduction
More accurate colour reproduction straight from camera
Colour reproduction performance is dramatically improved, giving subjects you capture more natural, true-to-life colours that are faithful to how they appear in real life. Skin tones in portraits, blue skies in landscapes, and vivid colours in still life all appear very realistic as a result.
More stable shots with 5-axis stabilization
The latest high-precision stabilisation uses stabilisation unit and gyroscopic sensors as well as algorithms to achieve a 5.0-stop8 shutter speed advantage in a system that compensates five types of camera shake with a wide range of lenses, and delivers excellent performance.
14-bit RAW output for rich gradations
For smoother, more natural gradations, the latest BIONZ X image processor and front-end LSI process image signals in 16-bit format. This processor also enables 14-bit RAW9 output, even in silent or continuous shooting mode10.
4D FOCUS — The evolution of AF performance
AF performance is enhanced by using the same AF advances as in the α9 and applying them optimally, so once the α7 III captures subjects with unpredictable movements like dancers, boxers and wild animals in action, it doesn't easily let them go.
4D FOCUS: Stunning wide coverage
693. Remarkable number of phase-detection AF points
This camera features 693 phase-detection AF points11 covering approximately 93% of image area plus 425 contrast-detection AF points12 densely positioned to enhance focus.
4D FOCUS: Fast AF speed
AF performance up to twice as fast
Combining focal-plane phase-detection AF for excellent speed and precise tracking, and high-precision contrast-detection AF, Sony's sophisticated Fast Hybrid AF can capture fast-moving subjects with exceptional sharpness. This system improves performance to double AF speed13.
4D FOCUS: Constant tracking
Improved AF tracking for fast-moving subjects
AF performance inherited from the α9 accounts for AF tracking with improved accuracy for continuous shooting of rapid action. With faster image sensor readout, even complex subject motion can be tracked, and sudden subject motion can be predicted with great accuracy, allowing you to capture decisive moments.
Reliable AF down to EV-3 brightness
Advanced AF algorithms contribute to high AF precision down to light levels as low as EV-314, for more reliable autofocus in dark scenes.
Focal-plane phase-detection AF supports A-mount lenses
The 693-point focal-plane phase-detection AF not only covers a wide area and responds instantly - it brings the advantages of high tracking performance even with an A-mount lens mounted via the LA-EA3 adapter.
