High image quality even in high-sensitivity photo and video
The LUMIX S5 incorporates a 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor that offers a wide dynamic range and high-sensitivity performance made possible by sufficient light condensation. The LUMIX S5 also enables crystal-clear high-sensitivity video recording up to ISO51200 through the adoption of Dual Native ISO technology. The LUMIX S5 also offers a High Resolution mode that faithfully reproduces precise details to be saved as a beautiful highly realistic image equivalent to 96 megapixels (12,000 x 8,000 pixels) not only in RAW but also in JPEG.
Exceptional video recording performance for cinema-quality film creation
The LUMIX S5 is capable of internal recording in 4K 60p/50p 4:2:0 10-bit and 4K 30p/25p 4:2:2 10-bit. It is also capable of HDMI output in 4K 60p/50p 4:2:2 10-bit. For internal recording in 4K 30p/25p 4:2:0 8-bit, there is no time limit. Panasonic's exceptional heat dissipation technology enables long-duration video recording. The LUMIX S5 offers a dynamic range of over 14 stops and V-Log / V-Gamut compatibility with the popular colourimetry called "VariCam Look". A variety of recording modes, including anamorphic 4:3 and slow and fast motion, are also available.
High-speed and high-precision AF supported by real-time detection technology
The LUMIX S5 offers high-speed and high-precision AF in both photo and video. Combining contrast AF with DFD technology, it focuses on the target in approximately 0.08 sec.* The LUMIX S5 also incorporates advanced deep learning technology that detects specific subjects - humans and animals (canines, felines, birds). Notably for humans, the eye, face, head and body are recognised separately by real-time detection technology for even more precise focusing.
Powerful anti-shake image stabiliser
The LUMIX S5's built-in body stabiliser (I.S.) enables precise shake detection and compensation, making it possible to use a shutter speed 5 times slower. By combining the camera's body stabiliser (5-axis) and the O.I.S. (2-axis) of the LUMIX S series lens, the 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 maximises correction power to enable a shutter speed 6.5 times slower.
Splash and dust resistant
The LUMIX S5 offers exceptional mobility while excelling in basic performance and expandability. To withstand intensive field use, the LUMIX S5 is composed of a die-cast magnesium alloy body and is splash and dust resistant. With optimal placement of heat dissipation components, heat is efficiently transferred outward, enabling stable and continuous video recording for extended periods.
